In view of the continuing tensions on the world scene, it is interesting to reflect on other November dates in history:
November 2
1917-Balfour Declaration, favoring a "National Home for the Jewish People" in Palestine and laying some of the groundwork for the State of Israel.
November 7
1917-Communism in Russia: Start of Communism with the Bolshevik Revolution.
2000-Election Day. What may prove to be a pivotal opportunity to return the United States to its Constitutional basis.
November 9
1918-Germany Became a Republic; Kaiser Wilhelm II fled.
1938-Krystallnacht: Nazis looted and burned 199 Jewish synagogues and 7,500 shops in Germany, causing economic ruin for the Jews.
1989-Berlin Wall Came Down (Exactly 51 years after Krystallnacht.)
November 10
1975-United Nations passed resolution condemning Zionism as a form of racism (on 37th anniversary of Krystallnacht, 1938). It is illuminating to recognize the consistent anti-Israel posture of the U.N. The Bible predicts that the entire world will unite and attack Jerusalem at the Battle of Armageddon.
November 11
Veteran's Day
1534-Statute of Supremacy: English Parliament establishes Henry VIII as head of the Church of England, replacing the pope as supreme leader.
1973-Cease-Fire of Yom Kippur War.
November 14
1960-Creation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which controls about 60% of world's oil resources.
November 18
1557-John Hallingdale, William Sparrow, and Richard Gibson were burned at the stake for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
November 19
1863-Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address
November 22
1963-John F. Kennedy Assassination
1990-Margaret Thatcher resigned, removing her restraint on unification of the European Community.
November 23
Thanksgiving
Hal Lindsey's Birthday. (Threescore and ten? It must, indeed, be the end-times!)
November 29
1947-Palestine Partition Plan: Gained majority vote in the United Nations. Israel granted 16% of the original 1920 British Mandate allocation of Palestine (1% of land of 21 Arab nations).
It was the Arabs who did not accept, and planned to take all of Palestine by force. (As Abba Eban so eloquently observed, "They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.")
It is interesting to see the downtrodden, outnumbered Israel, the darling of the 50s and 60s, become (according to the managed media) the "oppressor" in their slanted reporting of the so-called "Peace Process."
Do your own homework and be "girded with truth." (Ephesians 6)
